Core groups is central to Christianity. Jesus defined the Christian experience with a group of about a dozen close friends. The early church existed for several hundred years in the context of small, intimate groups. The word “church” even means “you and I together”. There is nothing special about a building, other than it can allow us all to get together somewhere! Sunday morning is a great time to get connected, and to enjoy a special experience weekly, but true Christianity is founded on intimate relationships with a small number of closely-connected people.
C.O.R.E. Stands for Community, Outreach, Relationships, and Experiences. The goal of the group is not to have a Bible study, though together you will examine the Bible. The goal of the group is not to serve together, though you will serve together. The goal of the group is to model Jesus' group – a group of friends who are there for each other, who share in everything, and who can powerfully change their surroundings. It is vital that every Christian belong to a group such as the one Jesus started, and not just fill a seat at a weekly service. God has a world-changing plan for all of our lives, and Core groups is the heart of that plan.
To find out more about Core groups, please come talk to anyone at a service, or call one of the numbers listed in this weekend's bulletin. We would love to have you group with us!
